The French Movie Festival has arrive to Colombia
By : Adelaida Camacho
For over six years, the “Festival de Cine Francés” has taken place in four different cities of Colombia; this year the festival is divided into four different cycles. The first cycle is dedicated to the famous French director Jacques Demy, who is worldwide known as one of the most important representatives of the “Nouvelle Vague” (a movement of the French cinema that look for freedom not only in expression but also of realization.). This cycle will show movies “Los Paraguas de Cherburgo” and “La Bahía de los Ángeles.”
The second cycle is called “Ciclo Inéditas”; this cycle will screen about fifteen movies that were made by French directors without any editing. The third cycle, “Clasicos”, is made up of around eight movies which were made in France during the Nazi occupation. And last but not least, the fourth cycle of this majestic festival titled “Globalización”, will display documentaries about France’s point of view in different matters.
In Bogota, the movies of this festival are going to be displayed in the theaters of: Cinemania, Avenida Chile, Fundadores and Cinemateca.
On top of these cycles, the Festival has a very special guest: the renown director Patrice Leconte (“Ridículo”, “El Marido de la Peluquera”, “El hombre del Tren” y “Cómicos en Apuros”) will dictate conferences in the cities in which the Festival would be celebrated—Bogotá, Medellin, Cali and Barranquilla—all through the month of September.
