Philosophy, Mission and Values of CLN
Since its inception, Colegio Los Nogales has sought to offer an exceptional education rooted in an identity which reflects its native language roots, yet whose programs strengthen student skills in a predominant foreign language. CLN provides its students a Christian-based holistic education that in addition to a strong academic
structure, espouses ethical, religious, intellectual and aesthetic values. CLN seeks to provide an education that will develop the whole person and form exemplary citizens capable of leading in the service of society and committed to a better future for their country. Today, more than 20 years since its founding, CLN's mission continues to offer students this exemplary education that is especially relevant in this globalized world.
With the ultimate goal of developing each student as a global citizen, Colegio Los Nogales has created norms for CLN community life inspired by the universal principles of human rights, the Colombian Constitution and the educational legislation of the country. These norms not only serve as the framework of institutional culture at CLN but are also taught as the moral and intellectual expectations of student behavior and achievement.
Profile of a Nogales Student
Honesty, respect and responsibility are the three fundamental expectations of every student at Colegio Los Nogales. Students at Colegio Los Nogales are fully expected to present and justify his/her works and creations as authentic and will give credit to others for their own. CLN students strive for excellence and show respect for themselves and for others. Students of Colegio los Nogales also act responsibly. At CLN responsibility is understood as the awareness of the obligations that the individual has towards himself, others and his/her environment.
In addition to these three main principles, students at CLN understand and practice the concept of teamwork. In fact, it is impossible to view a student at Los Nogales as an isolated subject. Rather, students at CLN are skilled in working collectively with others in the search of the public good. Students at Colegio Los Nogales display solidarity towards others and accept the differences that exist among human beings. All of the guidelines of the community at Los Nogales are committed to a policy of no discrimination regarding race, religion, political beliefs, gender, nationality, class, age, handicap, marital status of individuals. Students at Colegio Los Nogales are an important part of this supportive and cooperative community that is committed to common ethical ideals. The ultimate goal is for CLN students is for them to transcend their own interests in search of serving others and society around them.
