This web site and the
data collected from the weather station were made possible
by a generous gift to the CLN Science Department from La
Asociación de Padres de Familia de Colegio Los Nogales.
We thank them for their support of science and of weather
enthusiasts around the world.
The meteorological
station at Colegio Los Nogales receives and records data
from a Davis Vantage Pro 2 Wireless Weather Station and
utilizes Davis WeatherLink software. The Integrated Sensor
Suite (a collection of temperature, rain, humidity, barometric,
wind speed and direction, solar radiation and ultraviolet
radiation sensors) collects the data from the roof of
the library and transmits it to the Vantage Pro 2 console
located inside the 6th grade Earth Science classroom.
These students now have the opportunity to learn about
the weather directly from their local environment. Students
collect and analyze the data in order to make predictions
based on mathematical trends.
Bogotá has
two main seasons of rain, from April to June and October
to December, the latter being the heaviest, although
as anyone who has tried to walk in the city knows, it
can rain at any time and on any day.
Colegio Los Nogales
is a private, Catholic, pre-Kindergarten through grade-12
collegiate-preparatory school located at the northern
end of the Andean plateau in Bogotá, Colombia.
