Solar radiation is a measure of the energy being absorbed by the Earth in Watts per square meter. This measurement is directly related to the daily temperature. In addition to the total energy, an index of the percentage of ultra-violet radiation (UV index) is useful for predicting how long people can remain outside without protection before they will receive a sunburn.
