Temperature is based entirely on
the quantity of solar energy absorbed by the Earth and is measured
in degrees Celsius. The
temperature for different geographic locations on Earth is affected by
several factors: altitude (temperature decreases approximately .6 °C/100
m of altitude), season (angle between the Earth and Sun) and latitude
(temperature generally decreases with distance from the equator, this,
however, is also dependent upon the season).
Daily temperature is affected by time of day, and percentage of cloud
cover and low pressure systems (cold fronts).
