WIND
The wind is caused by differences
in the temperature of air masses. Wind speed is usually measured
in Knots (an abbreviation for nautical miles [6,076 feet or 1.85
Km] per hour.)
1 Knot = 1.85 Km/hr. Warm air (lower barometric pressure) always moves
toward colder, denser air (higher barometric pressure). The direction
of the wind can change due changes in temperature, microclimates (localized
weather), changes in the seasons, the arrival of larger storm fronts,
or, on the coast, the change from day to night. A drastic change in
wind direction could mean the arrival of a storm front.
